Notices

It is good to have Judith Meaden and Molly Hoyle, MU diocesan officers, with us this morning.  Judith and Molly will be happy to ask any questions and have a chat to folk about issues relating to Mother’s Union – what being a member involves and so on.

If you use the envelope scheme in your giving, please come and collect your new batch of envelopes.  If you don’t use this scheme currently, but would like to, there will probably be some spare envelopes, so please see Sarah!

A reminder that the APCM will be held on Sunday 17th February following the morning service.  If you are responsible for submitting a written report for the APCM, please let Sarah have your report by 27th January at the very latest.

Information about the Lent and Eastertide Schools 2013 is available from the poster and booklet at the back of church.  For further information, please see Paul or Sue.

If you have any photos of parish/church life – send them to Paul or Sarah (via email) and they’ll be posted on the new Parish blog site.

Electoral Roll:  Every six years we are required to prepare a completely new electoral roll. Members on the previous roll will need to apply to be included - inclusion is not automatic. New people can also apply during this period. A person applies by filling out a very short form. If you are aged 16 or over and worship regularly at St. Peter’s you are warmly encouraged to have your name included. All forms must be returned to Debbie Carson by 27th January 2013.

You will (perhaps…) have been aware that not many of the radiators in our church have been working.  We spent a bit of time getting quotes in to replace like-for-like [not an entirely efficient way to heat the church building].  The quotes for this were between £5628 and £7295.  We also got a quote to replace the current system with a ‘wet’ system.  As well as a more efficient heat system, this would enable hot water to be available and provide heating in the crèche and Rocks room.  The quote for this was around £26,640.00.  It was decided – pretty promptly – that we simply cannot afford the latter, and so are going to have the current system replaced with a like-for-like system.  You should notice the difference in temperature this morning!

Toward the end of last year, the PCC submitted a grant application to English Heritage for funds towards repairs on the church – primarily to do with the back end of the church that is slowly pulling away from the main body and causing large cracks.  However, we were not successful in our bid – simply because there are other applications from our region that were more urgent than ours.  At some stage the Buildings Committee will meet to look at where we go now, prioritise works needed etc.  If you would like to feed ideas into that, please let Paul, Julian or Judith know.
