week – hours flexible, mostly Monday to Friday with some weekend work
Salary: FTE £30,000 per annum

NB. This post is funded by the
Heritage Lottery Fund. Whilst this is a fixed-term contract there may be scope
for extension beyond the development phase if successful at with our second
round application
Summary of Post
St
Peter-in-the-Forest is entering an exciting phase in the life of the church. We
are improving and expanding our Grade II Listed church building to secure its
long-term future, see increased community engagement and greater use, and
generate increased revenue streams.
A
heritage project will run alongside the new build, restoration and reordering
of the church building.
We
have been successful with our first stage Heritage Grants application to the
Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards this project and are now recruiting a Development
Manager to play a key role in the development of this project. The Development
Manager will lead this project through the HLF development phase, working with
the project team and wider stakeholders. This will be a highly influential and
outward-facing role, enabling us to realise our vision for St Peter’s.
Key
Responsibilities
1.
HLF Project Management
a.
To be the
main point of contact for the project and with HLF
b.
To manage
day-to-day operational aspects of the development phase
c.
To be
responsible for ensuring all HLF-approved purposes are achieved during the
development phase
d.
To work with
the Project Team to develop plans within HLF deadlines, budgets, and requirements
for our stage two submission
e.
To create
and maintain the project plan, risk logs, and budgets
f.
To work closely with project consultants:
i. Architect to ensure the capital plans
are developed in line with initial project proposals
ii. Activity Plan Consultant to ensure
that the Activity Plan is delivered in line with project developments and HLF
requirements
iii. Spires Heritage to ensure funding for
the project is secured on time and in line with project developments
g. Recruit and manage volunteers as
required to support with development phase activities
2. Project Reporting
a. To
chair Project Team meetings and provide monthly project reports
b. To
ensure quarterly HLF progress reports are completed on time and within the
agreed schedule
c. To
produce an evaluation report on completion of the development phase activities
d. To
update HLF of any changes or amendments to the project in a timely manner
e. To attend PCC meetings and report on
project progress (as required)
f.
To attend the HLF Development
Phase Review and ensure all required documents are prepared in time, to the
standard required, and circulated to HLF prior to the review
3.
Financial Management
a.
To work
closely with the Project Team to ensure clear financial and budgeting systems
and controls for the project are in place
b.
To ensure
accurate records of project expenditure are in place and payment requests to
HLF are completed in line with agreed schedules
4. Promotion and Outreach
a. To act as an
ambassador for the “St Peter’s: A Unique
Forest Church” project, and for St Peter-in-the-Forest
b. To gather information and intelligence
about the local community, and ascertain needs
c. To use a wide range of media to promote
the project with the local press, stakeholders, local community and church
congregation
d. To raise awareness of the church and
the “St Peter’s: A Unique Forest Church” project
e. To work with the Activity Plan
Consultant on community consultation to develop the heritage activity programme
summarised in the first stage application
f.
To identify and establish relationships with Vestry House Museum,
William Morris Gallery, and other heritage organisations and partners to
support with delivery phase activities
g. To identify and build relationships
with community partners
h. To develop links with organisations
who might be users of the new community spaces created with this project
5.
General
a.
This is not
an exhaustive list and other duties may be required from time to time that are
commensurate with the responsibilities of the post. Some flexibility in working
hours is required e.g. in relation to attendance at evening meetings for which
time off in lieu will be given.
There
may be possibility of an additional role within our existing project - the
Peterhouse Church and Community Centre - for suitable candidates. This would add a further few hours per week
to the work-profile, and may be of interest for someone looking to work
full-time hours. If you would be

There
may, additionally, be the possibility of providing residential accommodation
within the Peterhouse Centre, for the right candidate. Again, please indicate within your main
application if this is a possibility you would wish to explore.
Additional Information
The post holder will be based at St Peter-in-the-Forest Church or
the Peterhouse Centre, as needed by key development tasks. They will occupy
office space within the Centre, although a significant proportion of their time
will be spent out in the community.
As
this post may involve working with children and young people (through liaising
with schools and youth projects), a full DBS check will be required before
employment can commence.
The post holder’s normal hours will be Monday to Friday between
8:30am and 5:00pm. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required in which
case time off in lieu will be given. There will be a holiday allowance of 20
days per annum, pro-rata.
